Two quotes from last week's Sunday Teaching Series
Those with little merit
Do not even cast a doubt.
Entertaining just a speck of doubt
Tears to tatters the whole of worldly existence.
~Aryadeva~ The 400 Verses on the Middle Way
Liberation is the exhaustion of karma and the afflictions.
The perpetuation of proliferating elaborations
Coming from karma, the afflictions and mental concepts,
Ceases by the realization of Emptiness.
~Nargajuna~
Geshela sent these two quotes this week, and expressed that it would be good for us to contemplate their meaning.
The first quote brings to light that there are some individuals who go through life never questioning - never doubting all that they have "bought into." This is due to a lack of merit.
From the second quote we understand that there is great value in seeing through the deception created by ignorance. When we see emptiness, this puts an end to the karma, concepts and afflictions that come out of a misperception of reality.
